The third book in Blea’s “Suzanna” trilogy, Beneath a Super Moon follows Suzanna Montoya from a mid-1960s, in a early days of a Chicano Movement, as she has staid in a city, grown a vicious consciousness, and begun to residence civic concerns about race, class, and gender. Suzanna’s methodical present provides a colorful voice as she takes movement to residence a manifestations of racism, sexism, and category taste where they happen—in her life—all while she seeks to reunite with a sons she left behind when she ran from her violent husband.
